What is National Safety Stand-Down Week?

National Safety Stand-Down Week is a joint effort between OSHA, the Center for Construction Research and Training, the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Safety Council, and other organizations to increase awareness of the dangers of construction accidents.

OSHA has complied educational materials for employers and is encouraging companies to take time for a Safety Stand-Down during the week of June 2nd to discuss workplace safety with employees. It is OSHA’s hope that this effort will reduce the number of serious and fatal accidents that occur on construction sites every year.

Slip and Fall Accidents

According to OSHA, slip and fall accidents account for over 35 percent of all fatal accidents on construction sites. By taking a few minutes during Safety Stand-Down Week to discuss safety protocols, this rate could be significantly reduced within the next few years.

California construction accident attorney Mickey Fine strongly supports OSHA’s efforts and encourages local companies to take a few minutes during Safety Stand-Down Week to help prevent serious accidents.
